SanUp Enterprise overview
The SanUp programme is proud to support a cohort of forward-thinking sanitation enterprises working to expand access to safe, affordable, and sustainable sanitation solutions across East Africa.
Selected through a competitive process, these enterprises represent a wide range of innovative models, from inclusive sanitation services and smart toilet technologies to circular sanitation systems and on-site treatment solutions. Each was chosen for their strong potential to deliver high-impact, locally appropriate solutions that address critical sanitation challenges in underserved communities. Our cohort combines technical expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and a deep commitment to improving public health and dignity through sanitation. Over the course of the programme, they will receive targeted technical assistance and support to strengthen their business models, scale their operations, and deepen their impact.

Asante Waste Management
Asante Waste Management Ltd, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Kampala, Uganda, provides end-to-end waste solutions—spanning collection, transportation, sorting, recycling, treatment, and safe disposal for residential, industrial, and commercial clients. Their services also extend to local authorities and town councils under KCCA (Kampala Capital City Authority) with various branches all over Uganda and registered licenses in other African countries like Burundi DRC, Kenya.
Bold Biogas
Bold Biogas is an Ugandan company that delivers systems that transform waste into value. We install biolatrines that safely treat human waste on-site using biodigestion, eliminating the need for unsafe pit latrines and reducing environmental contamination. We also operate hybrid biodigesters that process both fecal and organic waste to produce biogas for cooking and bio-slurry for farming. Paired with soak pits, these systems are odor-free, low-maintenance, and scalable. Through user training, we close the loop between sanitation, clean cooking, and agriculture.
Brilliant Sanitation
Brilliant Sanitation Uganda Limited, founded in 2018 by Semukoteka Abubaker, is a social enterprise that specializes in high-quality latrine emptying services across Uganda, addressing sanitation challenges through innovative gulper and PitVac technology and offering a wide range of sanitation-related services in both urban and rural areas. Addressing challenges with indiscriminate waste disposal and enabling access to affordable sanitation services for all with a keen focus on growing urban cities Our core services revolve around the collection, and safe disposal of faecal sludge, along with the provision of sanitation equipment and hygiene education programs. Our business model emphasizes operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and a subscription-based service offering, ensuring recurring revenue streams and continuous customer engagement.
Cama Women Plumbers Network
Cama Women Plumbers Network Limited (CWPN) is a female-led enterprise advancing inclusive and sustainable plumbing and sanitation solutions in Uganda. Through its flagship Wakiso Sanitation Project, CWPN is improving public sanitation in schools, hospitals, and markets by installing bio-digester toilets integrated with rainwater harvesting and solar water pumping systems. The initiative reduces water costs by up to 95%, eliminates sludge, promotes hygiene, and empowers women plumbers to lead green infrastructure development across communities.
Our pilot systems have demonstrated high efficiency, low maintenance, and strong community acceptance. CWPN is now seeking strategic partners and investors to scale this model across Wakiso and neighboring districts, supporting Uganda’s journey toward inclusive and sustainable WASH infrastructure.

Chanzi
Chanzi, founded in 2019, is an East African waste‑management enterprise that transforms food waste into valuable resources using Black Soldier Fly larvae. Their core operations include converting organic waste into nutritious animal feed protein and producing organic fertiliser. With facilities across multiple cities, Chanzi supports circular economy goals and sustainable agriculture while tackling the rising challenge of organic waste disposal.
Crystal Africa Cleaning Service
Crystal Africa Cleaning Service Limited provides comprehensive and affordable sanitation solutions, including reliable cleaning services, waste collection, exhauster services, and septic tank construction. Our innovative circular economy model transforms waste into a source of health and economic empowerment, driving our mission to create a cleaner, more prosperous future for urban communities.
Elikham Systems
Elikham Systems Limited is a registered Kenyan company dedicated to providing sustainable decentralized onsite wastewater treatment and recycling solutions. The company focuses on addressing the growing need for efficient water management systems by designing and implementing technologies that ensure safe, clean, and reusable water for communities, industries, and institutions. With expertise in modern wastewater treatment techniques, Elikham Systems Limited delivers solutions that promote environmental conservation while helping organizations reduce costs and comply with regulatory standards.
Our services cover the full cycle of wastewater management, including treatment plant design, installation, maintenance, and water recycling systems tailored to client needs. Beyond service delivery, Elikham Systems Limited is committed to driving long-term sustainability and innovation in water resource management in collaboration with real estate developers, urban town planners, governments, and institutions. Kenya Cast Products Ltd (KCP), originally founded in 2006 and rebranded in 2014, is a Kenyan family‑owned company specializing in on‑site wastewater management solutions. They manufacture and construct reinforced concrete mono‑block biological septic tanks that treat waste in a sustainable manner, releasing bio‑degraded effluent within environmentally safe parameters. With nearly two decades of experience, KCP has built a reputation for innovation, including integrating smart meters to monitor system performance, and serves a wide range of residential, commercial, and institutional clients across Kenya.
Local Globe Enterprises
Our company is a sanitation and environmental management company based in Eastern Kenya (Laikipia, Meru & Isiolo counties), specializing in professional exhauster services. The company is committed to providing safe, efficient and reliable waste management solutions for households, businesses and institutions. By combining modern equipment, skilled personnel, and eco-friendly practices, Local Globe Enterprises Ltd ensures proper waste disposal and contributes to cleaner, healthier communities.
Omiflo
Omiflo is a Kenyan-based biotechnology company founded in 2019 that provides innovative, nature-based wastewater treatment systems using plant-based biotechnology to convert wastewater into clean water without chemicals or energy. Our award-winning technology utilizes floating plants to absorb and break down pollutants, offering scalable and cost-effective solutions for residential, commercial, and municipal applications.
PuPu Africa
Opero Services Limited is a social enterprise focused on providing safe, affordable and scalable sanitation solutions across East Africa. After we were appointed by the Practica Foundation—a non-profit with more than 15 years of experience in sustainable sanitation in Africa—as the East African hub distributor for the PuPu Pump, we set up PuPu East Africa to carry out this regional role.
The PuPu Pump is a simple, versatile technology that helps local entrepreneurs safely empty pit latrines in urban and peri-urban communities. As the distributor, we supply the equipment along with training and ongoing technical support to sanitation businesses across the region.
RDF Uganda
RDF Uganda Limited specializes in availing affordable financial services in form of Micro Agricultural Group, Individual loans, and complimentary services such as sanitation loans, agri-based financial literacy and education support to the underserved rural poor addressing the community needs on poverty, ignorance, and diseases. The organization intends to address the financial exclusion gap and non-commercialized farming practices (subsistence) that majorly exist amongst the rural communities whilst integrating solutions that address ignorance and disease among the underserved rural poor.
Saniwise Technologies
Saniwise Technologies is a social enterprise committed to revolutionizing sanitation through innovative and sustainable solutions, particularly for low-income areas and school sanitation. Our core services include the provision of eco-friendly toilets that promote hygiene and resource recovery, semi-mechanized pit emptying for efficient waste management, and expert WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) consultancy to help communities and organizations develop and implement effective sanitation strategies. We are dedicated to creating a cleaner, healthier environment by blending technology with social impact.
Viare Sanitation Services
Viare Sanitation Services is a Ugandan enterprise delivering sustainable sanitation and environmental management solutions across urban and rural communities. Its core services include safe toilet emptying, construction and upgrading of sanitation facilities, recycling of waste into biogas and organic fertiliser, as well as fumigation, compound cleaning, and landscaping. Viare also provides training, consultancy, and community engagement, with a strong focus on women’s empowerment and environmental conservation through tree-planting and circular sanitation practices.
